Cassia javanica
Rainbow Shower Tree
Cassia x nealiae is a hybrid between C. javanica x C. fistula. This is not a single variety. Different clones have different flower colours and there are at least four named cultivars in Hawaii. (See: Xeriscape Plants, University of Hawaii at Manoa). The lack of seed pods from these sterile hybrids is an advantage in many landscape applications.
Unfortunately, this tree is not widely available in Australia. If any readers know of a retail nursery selling Rainbow Shower or any of the other hybrids in the links below, the editor would love to hear from you ( Contact).
