Ornamental Ipomoea
Note that some Ipomea, as pretty as they may be, are weeds in Queensland. Visit the Qld DEEDI's Weeds webpages for more information. For those in other regions, check with an appropriate authority if in doubt.
Ipomoea horsfalliae (Cardinal Creeper)
These appear in garden centres from time to time but because they are difficult to propagate, supplies are always limited. If you can't find one for sale, talk to your local nursery about placing an order.
Ipomoea batatas (Ornamental Sweet Potato)
Popular in North America for bedding and container displays, these varieties selected fro their attractive foliage are less known in Australia but keep an eye out in garden centres in the warmer months. For more information on the vegetable, go to the Sweet Potato page.
