Acalypha hispida is a shrub of similar size to the colourfully foliaged A. wilkesiana varieties of Queensland gardens, but is grown primarily for their long, red "cat's tail" type inflorescences.
Acalypha chamaedrifolia (still better known under its old name Acaypha reptans) is a groundcover but the flowers, while smaller, are similar in style.
Where to buy
You may have difficulty finding some of these in the marketplace in Australia. While the grouncover A. chamaedrifolia is sometimes available in garden centres, Acalypha hispida may be hard to find. If you operate a retail nursery supplying these plants in Australia, perhaps you can get in touch?
