Calling senior gardens in Cairns

New to Cairns is the Seniors Week Garden Competition. Entrants need to be at least 50 years of age and entries close on 8 August 2013. More information: Garden Judge keen to see entries

Betascapes Spring Garden Competition

Ipswich's Best Garden Competition 2012

Trevallan Lifestyle Centre is bringing their garden competition to Ipswich again in 2012. The central theme is "what does your garden mean to you?". Entries close 9th March. For more information visit www.facebook.com/trevallan or www.trevallan.blogspot.com or contact the garden centre.

2011

Cassowary Coast Garden Competition
Cassowary Coast Regional Council has announced their 2011 gardening competition. Judges will be taking the effects of Cyclone Yasi into consideration, and council is encouraging the all the vcommunity to participate and contribute to the region's recovery. There will be 13 categories including schools, commercial and tourist premises as well as various types of private gardens. Entries close on Friday July 29th. Rockhampton's 2011 Betascapes Spring Garden Spectacular
This year's competition includes two new categories - Best Private Garden in a Seniors' Complex and Best Flood Recovery Garden- in addition to other categories for private, coporate and scoll gardens. Judges will be able to give encouragement awards in each category, so Rockhampton Regional Council are urging residents to eneter even if their gardens aren't in peak condition. Streetscape comp for Cairns
Cairns Regional Council are reminding residents to get ready for this year's Streetscape Awards, to be launched on 26th June. There will be categories for homes, schools, commercial gardens and neighbourhoods. More at their website: Search on for green thumbs (April 2011)

Garden Competition for Ipswich
Trevallan Lifestyle Centre, Brassall, is holding their first garden competition and all of Ipswich is invited to enter. Whether your garden is big or small, on a patio or on acreage, simply submit 6 photos and up to 200 words about your garden. From six finalists, the public will be able to vote for the winner on Facebook or at Trevallan Lifestyle Centre. Entries close 31 Jan 2011. For more information, go to facebook.com/trevallan

Cairns Regional Council Streetscape Awards
The parts of private gardens that are visible to the public will be the focus on the Cairn's new garden competition, which will replace the traditional garden awards. Council wants to emphasise the importance of "streetscapes" in greening and beautifying the city. Water useage and environmental factors will also be taken into consideration. A special category will be the novelty letterbox competition. residents can submit photos, and the winner will be chosen by the public using online voting. If you don't see a garden competition for your area, try contacting your local council. Failing that, try your local newspaper. If you know of a garden competition in Qld that needs publicity and you would like to see listed here, please forward some information.

41st Hills District & Bunya Garden Competition
Open to all residents of Arana Hills, Everton Hills, Ferny Hills and the Bunya area of Brisbane, everyone will receive a prize just for entering. Entry is free. There are many divisions (the judges will assign you to the most appropriate category) and there are special awards for water efficiency. Judging date is Sunday 13th September 2009. The competition is conducted by the Ferny Hills Progress Association with support from Moreton Bay Regional Council and many local businesses. More information and entry forms at www.fhpa.com.au

Garden comp on in Cairns
There will be many categories for commercial and residential gardens, including Unit Garden and Pensioners Garden. All entries will be judged on their water conserving qualities. Entries close 24 July. Read more: Cairns Garden Awards launched (May 2009)

Logan Garden Competition 2009
Entries will open on August 3 and categories will include residential, commercial, school and community. For more information contact Logan City Council. The competition will be officially lauched at Joncia Gardens on 29 March. (Joncia Gardens helps launch 2009 Logan Garden Competition).
