Tiger grass

Thysanolaena maxima

Synonym: Thysanolaena latifolia

This is a grass that look similar to a bamboo. It can make a very substantial clump eventually although remaining quite tight at the base. Use as a feature or as a fact-growing screen to about 2.5m

While probably more correctly called Thysanolaena latifolia, this large grass is better known here as Thysanolaena maxima.

This species was discussed in more detail in the 29 October 2021 edition of Get Results Gardening. Click on the banner below to learn how to get a free trial and learn more about gardening in Australia, especially subtropical SE QLD and NNSW.
